Michael Glanz Urgent Surgery

Anyone who knows Mike Glanz knows he is a man of honor and integrity, a man who goes above and beyond to help friends and neighbors in need. He has always been an example of strength and love in our community, and now he is the one in need.
As many of our dear friends and family know, we have been out of country this year, and we do not have medical insurance here in Latin America. The short story is that Mike has been in excruciating, debilitating pain since mid-August with very little relief, and bedridden from the pain for the past 3.5 weeks. We were able to speed up the lengthy medical process here and get him in to have an MRI, which revealed 3 herniated discs in the lumbar region, with a lot of the debris from the herniated discs pressing against the nerves, causing the excruciating pain that Mike has faced since mid-August.
Due to the pain, he has not been able to walk for the past 3.5 weeks and none of the oral or intravenous medications have done anything substantial to block this particular pain. As it is now, his surgery is to be scheduled at the National Hospital here, and we have confidence in our surgeon and his summary of what needs to be done to remove debris, decompress, and fuse the lower lumbar region.
Without this surgery, Mike will remain bedridden and the risk of several other negative factors, including deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) and possible loss of the ability to use his legs, will seriously threaten his situation. This surgery is NOT elective.
We do not have health insurance here, and the cost of this surgery of nearly $40,000 is required up front, unlike American hospitals. If you feel led to contribute, we sincerely thank you in advance.
