Michael Fuller’s Road to Recovery

The family of Michael Fuller is asking for your love, positive thoughts, and continued prayers at this time.

Michael has suffered from a diving/drowning related accident on Sunday (5/28). Michael started his recovery journey at West Branch MyMichigan Hospital and then was later air lifted to Midland MyMichigan Hospital the morning of 5/29. Due to the severity of his spinal cord injury and extended complexities he was then air lifted to U of M hospital on Monday (5/29).

As of Tuesday 5/30 Michael remains in the ICU in critical condition, but now is in the best of hands with the U of M Neurological team.

At this time they wish to share that Michael has fractured his C6 & C7 vertebrae in which has resulted in severe spinal cord damage commonly seen in dive related injuries.

The hospital staff’s focus at this time is to continue on his health and stability in preparations for his surgery. The good news to share is that Michael has shown progress in his vitals and his spinal cord does not appear to be compressed at this time. On this recovery trajectory the doctors are very hopeful he can expect to have his neck surgery within the next 24-48 hours.

With all this said, there is still much that is unknown at this time due to the extent of his injuries.

They are all remaining hopeful and ask that you all continue your positive thoughts and prayers for Michael and his family’s long road to recovery.

As with any critical related injuries there are health costs from care. Including but not limited to extended expenses such as travel, lodging, food, and loss of work.

As a community let’s come together and help the Fuller family with any contributions to aid in Michael’s recovery. This will keep their focus on Michael’s health and recovery rather than the financial stresses that are soon to follow.

Michael is a fighter & won’t give up. If only he knew the support he had behind him at this time.
