On the 12th of October this year, I will be running the Chicago Marathon in memory of my Dad, Michael, who we sorely miss every day.
My Dad, at age 54, was diagnosed with terminal cancer in June 2020 at the peak of Covid times. After an incredibly brave battle, he passed away less than five months later on 23 October 2020.
As the Chicago marathon takes place just days before his five-year anniversary, I have chosen to run it in his memory.
I am raising funds for Meath Palliative Care, a charity that holds a special place in the heart of myself, my mother Helen and my three brothers.
Meath Palliative Care does incredible work supporting families dealing with cancer across the North East. Their dedication and care ensured that my Dad was able to pass away at home, surrounded by his family, at a time when no visitors were allowed in hospitals. Their humility and commitment will never be forgotten.
I am self-funding this marathon, so 100% of your donations will go directly to Meath Pallative Care. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your contributions.
