Three days ago Mike was plowing in his neighborhood and got his thumb severed in a winch.  Although the amazing team at the U of U Hospital tried to save his thumb, it appears he will not be able to keep it.  Mike loves his work and it shows in the beautiful pictures he shares with us on his face book page.  (warning, the picture of his thumb is pretty graphic) https://www.facebook.com/michael.everett.3348/timeline
The down side to doing what you love sometimes is that this particular job is seasonal so he is not insured right now.   Mike has a beautiful house that he has worked hard for over the last 20+ years and a young family to take care of.  Although he did have some funds saved for emergencies, it will not come close to covering this.  Mike will be out of work for a couple of months and could really use some help in covering some of the basic expenses of living.  There has been such an outpouring of caring and love for Mike over the last three days that shows what an amazing Father, Husband, Friend, and to me, Son in law he is.  Please take the time to send what you can, even if it is just wishing him a quick recovery.
