Michael Earl Westervelt, 58, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, ended his earthly journey on February 4, 2024. Born in Elk Horn City, Kentucky, on March 3, 1965, he was the son of Annette (Allen) Ray and the late Ralph Westervelt.

The family is asking for donations to cover his final expenses during this difficult time.

Michael, affectionately known as Mike, was a man of remarkable skill and dedication. He was an alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University, where he successfully cultivated his expertise with a double major in Woodworking Technology and Education. His professional life was marked by his impactful tenure as the Coordinator of Faculty Improvements within the Gwinnett Public School System, where for over a decade he was instrumental in fostering academic advancement. Alongside his career in education, Mike's entrepreneurial spirit flourished as he founded and operated Beaver Millwork Cabinet Shop for a quarter of a century.

Beyond the sphere of his professional endeavors, Mike harbored a love for surf fishing, the timeless elegance of trains, and the craft of woodworking — a testament to his appreciation for the intricate beauty of both nature and handwork. Family stood as the cornerstone of his life, reflected in the cherished moments spent with his beloved wife of 30 years, Patricia M. Westervelt, his stepdaughter Christina M. Frank-Kinnard, alongside her spouse Hanna Frank-Kinnard, as well as the esteemed presences of his mother Annette Ray, father Richard Ray, and his brother, Ryan Ray.

The legacy of Michael Earl Westervelt will be honored at a Celebration of Life event, scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at 2555 Dogwood Road, Snellville, GA 30078.

As we mourn the loss of Michael Earl Westervelt, let us reflect on the fullness of his life, the depth of his influence, and the warmth of his presence that will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.
