Michael Dixon JR. Fight Against Leukemia

During the Texas winter storm February13, 2021  My 8 year old son Michael began complaining of leg pains and headaches. I didn’t think much of it at the time because my main focus was keeping my kids warm. We didn’t have electricity at first and we were without water. I  assumed he was just cold and uncomfortable. I  did everything I could to make him comfortable. Later on I assumed he was okay because he didn’t complain of any pains as the week went on. Being a          single mother and my kids sole provider I had to return to work. On February 24, 2021 my kids babysitter called me at work and said “MJ            KEEPS CRYING “ he was saying his body hurt and it hurt to walk. I had about 2 hours left on my shift and I told my babysitter to give him some Tylenol until I could pick my kids up. I called his PCM and made a appointment for the next day, unfortunately we didn’t make it to the next day. I ended up rushing my son to the ER late Wednesday night. My son could not walk.   by the time we made it to the hospital. His pain and condition did a complete 360 in a matter of hours. The doctors immediately put us in a room and began with a covid test. His vitals were okay and his COVID  test was negative. The doctor ordered blood work and his results came back showing his White Blood Count was extremely high. We were then admitted to the hospital . Despite my son being sick and in the hospital, I knew He was in good hands so I went to work the next morning from the hospital. I didn’t have any leave available and I couldn’t afford leave without pay. While I was at work I received a phone call to come back to the hospital because the doctors wanted to speak to me. I had already been up over 24 hours and I was exhausted, I was not thinking straight. I left work immediately and headed back to the hospital just so the doctor could tell me they wanted to do a bone marrow biopsy procedure on my son because  they thought he had leukemia. On February 25, 2021, it was confirmed and my son was diagnosed with B cell Acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My whole world shattered. I stayed in the hospital with my son as he began treatment and chemo. Trying to focus on my son was hard because reality still sat in the back of my mind and wondering how I was gonna be able to financially care for my other kids and my sick son.  I kept asking myself how am I going to continue to take care of them and sit here in this hospital next to my son who needs me most . I was broken financially,               mentally, and emotionally. I decided to set this Go fund me up to help me and my kids get by         financially Due to the fact that the doctor said I will be unable to work because my son needs 24 hour care for at least 12 months or until he can Build his immune system back up and is able to be around others without the worry of getting sick and of course depending on how treatments work. I definitely understand this has been a difficult year for several people so if you are unable to donate, a small prayer holds just as much value as the dollar sign and that  would mean so much to my son and me.
