Michael Collins' Handicapped Bathroom Fund
Donation protected
Hello everyone! We are reaching out on behalf of our family member, Michael. Michael had a long battle with Covid-19. He was on a ventilator in the ICU and was in the hospital for eight weeks. Covid left him unable to move his arms, and he can no longer use his voice. He relies on people to feed him, offer him a drink and tend to his basic needs such as toileting and bathing.
This is far from the only battle Michael has had to fight in his life. He was born deaf, battled Hodgkin's lymphoma, and was later diagnosed with Freidrich's Ataxia (a rare degenerative neurological disease). He has been in a wheelchair since his early twenties and has slowly lost the use of many of his muscles.
Currently, Michael's bathroom is not handicapped accessible, and it is difficult to get him a shower. He has gone over five weeks at a time without receiving one, and it takes two people to navigate the labored shower process.
We are asking for assistance in getting him a handicapped shower installed. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Funds remaining will go towards his direct care. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
