Michael Caplin's Fight Against ALS

Donation protected

I will be running an Ultra Marathon on July 2nd 2022 – The Serpent Trail, which is a 64-mile long trail! I am raising money for one of the most kind, caring, and loving individuals there is; my uncle, Michael Caplin, at the age of 56, was diagnosed with ALS in early March of 2022. This has taken some time to sink in for me, and I wish I could do more to help my uncle as it is life-altering for our entire family. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is 2-5 years, but with your support and assistance, we hope to extend his life and make him as comfortable as possible.

If you know Michael, you know he is one of the kindest, most compassionate, and most generous people on the planet. He has always been a devoted husband, father, and friend. He is always willing to go out of his way to help others but has never been comfortable asking for help in return. Many people have asked us what they can do to help our family in our time of need. We believe that being able to provide the best care when it comes to medical expenses, medical equipment, and making the home handicap accessible would benefit him the most. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

I wish there were more I could do to change the circumstances! Unfortunately, my uncle can no longer work and has extreme difficulty completing everyday tasks. This has also altered the lives of my two cousins Kolby and Konner, and Auntie Randi, who are doing everything they can.
The thing about ALS is that there is currently no cure. The progression of the disease attacks the nerves in a way that you slowly lose the ability to move, breathe, eat, and speak. However, most people who have ALS do not lose their cognitive abilities as their body deteriorates. There has been tons of research, but unfortunately, there are no answers to this unfathomable disease. We are hoping for a miracle.

Any contributions, small or large, will make an enormous difference! Thank you so much for opening your heart and donating to this effort. Your support means the world to my family and me. Please feel free to share with your friends and family. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Sincerely,
Kane
