My father passed earlier this month after a lion-hearted battle with illness and ultimately a malignant cancer and fatal pneumonia.
Several years of declining health took a toll on not only his body, but his finances as well, leaving him continuously denied at every corner for any life insurance, even to minimally cover the cost of his funeral expenses.
My Dad was a good man, did many great things and his closest friends have only ever described him as an honest, kind and good-hearted person. My Dad was an Air Force Vietnam Veteran, former Deputy Sheriff, and Bell Helicopter retiree. He loved his dogs, Harley and Lucy. He obsessed over Harley Davidson's (always wanted one) and the Texas A&M Aggies-Gig 'em he would say often. He enjoyed playing golf and a good afternoon at the shooting range. My Dad even spent his time competing in dutch oven cooking events, making a heck of a meal as usual. My Dad was a good man, and I know he wanted the best for everyone he loved. He never spoke to me about it, but I know it weighed heavy on him that he would not be able to leave his family with much.
Of the infinite things that I will remember and miss the most, will be the random talks we would have over a cup of coffee, spending an evening together watching a good action/sci-fi movie, and his hugs… I will miss those most of all. He will be overwhelmingly missed by us, by many.
Our Family is asking for contributions to help ease the cost of his services. We can't begin to convey our gratitude for any help. Thank you.
