Michael C. Sawyers II Knowledge is Power

 
Intelligent. Hard-working. Driven. Caring. These are a few of the words to describe Michael C. Sawyers II or better known as Little Mike. Several years ago his life was taken from this earth way too soon, leaving behind two children and a family that loves and misses him every day. Anytime anyone needed a helping hand Little Mike was always there, letting you know he had your back with his well-known catchphrase, "Yeah, yeah." Even as I look at the picture of him now I can hear those words ringing in my ear. Little Mike was not big in stature, but his heart was as big as could be. He loved his children, his sister, and had a bond with his father that could never be broken. 

Like Little Mike, The Sawyers Family has always been there to help one another and others. The family has spent time raising money for families in need of clothing, food, rent, and Thanksgivings with each other have been sacrificed to hand out food to the less fortunate. The Sawyers family work has not stopped with the passing of Little Mike. Now, instead of mourning him, we want to honor him by creating the Michael C. Sawyers II Knowledge is Power Scholarship. 

This scholarship will be awarded to a young man or woman of color who demonstrates the same qualities as Little Mike, both inside and outside of the classroom. The Sawyers family has worked very hard to be where they are today, but in life, some people just need a little help to get where they are going. As a result, this scholarship will be used to help a student pay for their college tuition. Your donation, no matter how large or small will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
