Michael "Bombay" Garrett

Michael Garrett affectionately known as "Dr. Bombay" was the epitome of charm, grace and kindness. Once in his presence, you were instantly drawn to his magnetic personality and his innate ability to make everyone feel like they were special. Michael volunteered both his time and resources towards helping others during his entire adult life, as a Community Advocate for the Clark County School District, as a devoted member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church and as one of the founding advisor for the Kappa Leadership League youth group (Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.)

Michael was the type to give all of himself and leave nothing behind. He poured encouragement and self-worth into many young men that not only changed their lives but changed how they saw the community at large.

Michael was a father figure to many but an actual father to only one. Michael’s proudest accomplishment was when he adopted his son Jadon last year on May 11, 2023, and became a single parent. Parenthood is not easy and being an adoptive parent is another level of commitment. He loved it!

He poured his life into ensuring Jadon got into a good school, made education a priority, excelled in his love of music, became an active member of his church and community, got baptized and had a relationship with the GOD. That’s the dad he was.

Unfortunately, Michael was hit with a sudden and unexpected illness that took his life at the young age of 61 and he will not get a chance to see the fruits of his labor with Jadon.

Michael had so many plans for he and Jadon with the immediate one being high school graduation, however his illness resulted in him being bedridden and the hardships that came along with not being able to work to maintain the quality of life he and Jadon enjoyed. Mounting bills and expenses have caused serious challenges for his family.

We have the opportunity to help Michael with his mounting bills, remaining expenses and making sure his only child graduates from high school. This was Michael’s dream. Any money raised will go towards these causes.
