Michael & Jenn's IVF Journey
Donation protected
My husband Michael & I met in 2010. We had a long-distance relationship; he was in the Air Force stationed in Arizona and I was in college in California. We would message each other and fly back and forth whenever we got the chance. We got married in 2011. In the first couple of years of our marriage, Michael was deployed overseas, twice. During that time, we never let anything stand in our way. We stayed in communication with each other and found a way to make it work. God was always watching over us and testing us in our marriage, but our love is strong.
Over the past 5 years we have privately struggled to start a family. It’s not easy to share the most intimate part of our lives. We were scared to face the fact that there may be a problem. We took a moment to really think about what 9 years of marriage will be for us. This past October, we decided to get some answers. Something we put off in fear of hearing bad news. Unfortunately, at the appointment our fears became reality. We were told we cannot conceive a baby naturally and our only chance of having a biological child of our own would be through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). At that moment, Michael and I tried to be strong for each other, but it was a lot of information to take in and extremely hard to swallow.
The process of IVF was explained to us along with the cost. Financially it is a bit overwhelming. Learning that there is a possibility it might not work is emotionally draining. We found ourselves in an unfamiliar place in life that we never thought we would be in. We are ready to enter this new chapter in our lives with faith, belief and hope that, God willing, will be a joyous ending.
Finances are the #1 barrier in treating infertility. Unfortunately, medical insurance doesn’t cover the extensive costs of IVF (office visits, treatments, medications etc). Michael and I have already started the process and incurred a lot of expenses. Although we have saved for the future and have covered some of the expenses, we never expected or planned to be in this situation. We know God put the desire to have a child of our own in our hearts. So, we ask you…family, friends, and future friends for your emotional and financial support. Any amount generously donated is greatly appreciated. We also ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this journey.
Thank you in advance for walking with us as we start the journey to parenthood.
