Update: Jason, the girls and the Hicks and Siler families are so appreciative of the generosity and love that is being poured out to this family.  We are so humbled by the generosity shown during this difficult time. This money will be set aside for college planning for the girls and to help the family get set up for the next chapter of their life together.

With love and gratitude,

On the afternoon of September 30, 2020, Micala Christie-Hicks Siler tragically died while running in Kyiv, Ukraine. She leaves behind her husband of 11 years, Jason, four precious girls Keira, Noelle, Cheyenne, and Natalie, her parents Mike and Celeste, and her six brothers and sisters.

This fund provides direct financial support to Jason and their four daughters for expenses that arise from Micala's sudden passing, and for the costs of relocation and getting reestablished as a family in the United States.

About Micala
Micala touched many lives around her. She was selfless and incredibly thoughtful, and she exuded optimism and grace. She loved deeply and was deeply loved. With a special place in her heart for orphans and the disenfranchised, Micala served as the Executive Director of the non-profit group, A Family for Every Orphan. Through her unwavering commitment to others, she helped thousands of orphans find loving families. In the last two weeks alone, she looked after an elderly neighbor—provided food and money—and she organized a drive to provide school supplies to impoverished families in the area. Her love for others was contagious.

Micala was also an inspirational and courageous leader.  She served as an officer in the U.S. Army, and commanded troops during two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. She graduated from the United States Military Academy and was the first female graduate of the U.S. Army Sapper Leader Course.

Prayer for the Family
Words cannot express our grief. We are devastated, as are the countless people whom Micala touched during her 41 years on earth. But as we continue to mourn, we also cherish the wonderful time we spent with her. We praise God for the opportunity to know her, love her, and spend many amazing years with her. Keira, Noelle, Cheyenne, Natalie, and Jason could especially use your prayers during this difficult time. We would like to thank you all for the assistance, thoughts, prayers, and unceasing words of encouragement.

We've posted the full obituary online here.
