Micah's Road to Recovery

Donación protegida
As many of you may know by now, our beloved brother, son,
family, and friend, Micah Moses was in a near-death motorcycle
accident. He sustained numerous life-threatening injuries and has
undergone multiple emergency surgeries and interventions since the
accident. We, as his family, praise the good Samaritan who found him
in time and the wonderful medical team that jumped into action to
save him immediately. Every day, we express gratitude to have Micah
here with us. His survival from the accident is nothing less than a
miracle. This has been reiterated over and over by the medical
professionals who have witnessed his journey.
We are staying strong and are aware of the physical, spiritual,
and financial hardship that the future holds but truly feel he can get
back to the life he deserves. As Micah embarks on this challenging
road ahead to recovery, we are reaching out to our friends, family, and
anyone who may want to lend a helping hand. We are aware that
times are tough and are grateful for any sort of support.

Journey:

On the evening of Saturday, July 29, Micah was driving his
motorcycle when he suffered a horrible accident. He was found in a
dark field and luckily was brought to the hospital just in time. Although
Micah was in full motorcycle gear and helmet, his injuries were almost
unsurvivable. The accident caused near decapitation, punctured lungs
and ruptured spleen, several broken bones, neck, and spine, and one
of the most extreme TBIs one can experience.
Unfortunately, Micah's traumatic brain injury has posed the
greatest cause of concern, as we (his family) and his medical team
are unaware of his outcome. Even though Micah’s strength and
resilience has proven apparent as he improves every day, the medical
team has prepared us with the large possibility that his recovery could
take years or even a lifetime. Micah is now out of the ICU and is
undergoing daily therapy and treatments in the hospital. With daily
improvements, we are confident Micah’s determination will bring him
back to the life he deserves.

A Message from Kristin, Micah's Mom:

As I was driving to Denver today, I counted how many times I’ve moved, 25 as an adult. This was the fastest-moving decision I’ve ever made, Bryson and I burned the midnight oil to pull this off. I now have so much peace about this transition and I know without a doubt that this move to Denver is the right move for Micah and my family.
This past week has been extreme emotions of shock, worry, grief and anger. I’ve yelled, broken and thrown stuff and begged God to take me or part of me just not my son. The doctors tell me every day that his brain injuries are severe and his recovery is unknown. It is a miracle he is alive and every day he makes progress. Micah is strong and wants to live a full life. It was suggested that we do a GoFundMe for Micah and at first, I didn’t see the need and was embarrassed to ask for help on his behalf. Learning more about the extensive recovery and the ongoing cost of rehabilitation, modifications and so on it makes sense to ask for financial help in lieu of food or flowers.
We’re so grateful for the huge outpouring of love, prayers and encouragement from so many people all over the world.
