Micah's little Heart

Hi, my name is Chelsea.

I'm fundraising for my son Micah who has a congenital heart condition.

He was diagnosed with Transpotion of the Great Artaries at birth.

I was 31 weeks when I went into hospital via ambulance when I started to hemorrhage. They then flew me to Brisbane from Gladstone Qld by the flying doctor.

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia straight away and put on a lot of medicine and drips to try to control my blood pressure.

My nerve system started to shut down and by Sunday my blood pressure was so high they had to take me in for an emergency c-section otherwise they were going to lose both of us.

It's taken me 2 and a half months to recover from the preeclampsia.

I found out about his heart condition when he was born at 31 weeks and 3 days gestation. He was born early due to me having severe preeclampsia.

When I found out I was pregnant, I was so over joyed. I've always wanted to have a baby and now I have my little miracle baby.

He was born on Australia Day, 26th of January 2025 at 6pm. He weighed 1.3kgs and 42cm long.

It was a shock to find out he not only was born early but having a heart condition we didn't have time or knowledge to prepare for.

It's been a really hard few months.

Watching my little baby boy go through surgeries and being poked and prodded every day is hard.

We have been in hospital for the last 2 and a half months, with still a few more months to go.

He's still in intensive care at the Queensland Children's Hospital.

He's now 2.5kgs and has had 3 open heart surgeries.

The reason I'm fundraising is to help with Micah's medical needs and for his future.

It's important to me to make sure he has the best chance to have a normal life.
