On Wednesday morning, September 4th, Micah Hoffman suffered a Grand Mal Seizure and was brought by ambulance to the Highland Ranch Hospital emergency room. While still in the throes of the seizure’s aftermath, Micah’s body continued to have multiple Grand Mal Seizures. In an effort to stop them, doctors sedated and intubated her as they performed numerous tests to determine the possible cause. By mid-morning the following day, doctors determined that Micah’s heart was in complete failure and her vital organs were shutting down. She was airlifted to UC Health in Aurora, a larger hospital better equipped to handle and care for Micah’s serious condition.

At just 27 years old, Micah is a proud new mom to her precious daughter, Adalyn Rose, who is nearly four months old. This grievously ill young mother of a tiny baby touched the hearts of staff as they raced against the clock to find what was causing both seizures and heart failure in such a young woman. As Micah lay unconscious in the ICU, her boyfriend, Jaiden, and both their families worked tirelessly in caring for sweet Adalyn.

Micah spent a challenging four days in a medically-induced coma, during which her heart rate and blood pressure were dangerously unstable. A high fever was also present, which raised more questions than answers for her doctors.
On September 9th, we were blessed with a miracle when she was brought out of sedation and began to speak. The hospital room was filled with both medical staff and family members shedding tears and clapping with joy when she spoke her first words! Over the next two days, Micah was able to sit in a chair, and then walked down the hallway with the assistance of a walker, showing her incredible strength and determination to return home to care for Addy. While her heart is still very weak and her journey remains delicate, we are patient with the process of her heart and body working to get stronger each day.

Her doctors have expressed optimism about her recovery, there have been no new seizures, her kidneys and liver are showing improvement, and the fever and signs of infection are gone. After all of the tests, research, and consults, none of the highly-trained and experienced Infectious Disease, Neurology, and Cardiology experts overseeing her care could locate a cause for the seizures and heart failure.

The costs associated with her medical care are mounting quickly, from medical bills including an ambulance transportation and Flight for Life airlift, to travel and lodging expenses for family to stay nearby and be there for Micah, Jaiden, and Adalyn. Coming up will be costs for fuel to drive to and from numerous medical appointments, home health aids, and more.

Please join our family and many, many friends praying for Micah’s life and her full recovery. Each prayer, thought, and any financial contribution you can offer will significantly help ease our family’s difficult time and stress, allowing us to focus on Micah’s health and wellbeing - as well as Adalyn’s needs - as Micah continues her fight to return to health and come home to her family. From the depths of our hearts, we thank you for the gift of unwavering love and support. Your kindness means the world to us.

Thank you,

Micah's family
