Educational Taiwan Trip

你好。我的名字是 Mia. Hi, My name is Mia Eckhardt and I am raising money to go on an educational trip to Taiwan with my Chinese class.

I have just started taking Chinese this year, and it has been a really interesting experience because of how completely different the language is. My teacher and his family are taking the class on a two-week visit to Taipei, Taiwan, and it includes activities such as a scenic bike tour, Taipei 101 (the 2nd tallest building in the world), classic night markets, beaches and sightseeing, and so many other amazing attractions. We even get to sleep in an aquarium!

Top 5 reasons why this trip is important:

1. Put my Chinese language skills to good use
I'm studying hard in my Chinese class in school, and this would be an amazing opportunity for me to immerse myself in the language.

2. Experience ancient and modern cultures all in the same place.
Taiwan is really unique culturally because it shares its ancient traditions with China. The difference is that China wiped out most of its history, whereas those traditions are kept alive in Taiwan. Plus, I've never been overseas, and I truly think that international travel will change my life.

3. Bond and make new friends
I will be going with people from many different classes. I will bond with new people and strengthen friendships.
4. Fun
This is pretty obvious!

5. See Nature
Taiwan has stunning beaches and misty mountains. Living in Missouri, spending time in nature this dramatic will be a huge eye-opener.
