Meet the team :
This project is part of our minor in Fashion and Visual Culture at AMFI. We previously created a one-minute film as the first step in developing Miasma, and now we are ready to bring the project to the next level with a bigger and more ambitious final film. Together with an incredible team, we have developed a bold and exciting creative vision that we are eager to bring to life.
To make this possible, we need your support. Your contribution will help us turn Miasma into reality and give us the opportunity to showcase our creativity, storytelling, and knowledge of fashion through film.
Synopsis
Your contribution will help fund:
- Equipment: To bring our film Miasma to life, we need camera and lighting equipment. Since we are shooting across multiple days, we will need to rent this equipment for a full week. We also require rigs and tripods to achieve the camera movements we envision, both on land and in the water.
- Catering: A well-fed crew is a happy crew.
- Transportation: Our shoot locations include a castle and a pool. We need transportation to move all gear, props, cast, and crew between locations efficiently and on schedule.
- Composer: Because Miasma has no spoken dialogue, music plays a vital role in telling the story. We want to incorporate a classical score that enhances the emotion and atmosphere of the film.
- Color Grader: To fully capture the Romantic-era aesthetic of the film, we need a professional color grade. The visual tone will shift alongside the psychological state of the main character, making color an essential storytelling element.
- Designer Clothing Piece: As this is a fashion film is part of our minor, one of the key requirements is that the wardrobe pieces be custom-designed to match the look and feel of the story. This requires funding to collaborate with and compensate a designer.
- Props: Many of our props need to be built from scratch, and fortunately we have a strong art department to make that possible. This includes paintings of the main character, a three-piece arch installation, lilies, and multiple mirrors.
- Actor: Our lead role is highly demanding. The actor must be able to perform ballet, swim confidently, and convey a wide emotional range throughout the film. To cast the right performer, we need the budget to fairly compensate an actor with this level of skill.

Our team comes from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and that diversity shapes everything we create. We value inclusion, and our creative choices reflect that. By choosing a Black model to represent a historically exclusive era, we’re intentionally challenging old norms and expanding who gets to be seen and represented.
