Heather: Our sweet Mia is admitted at Riley Children’s Hospital. Her pediatrician unexpectedly found a mass on a chest X-ray when I took her in to get a school note to go to school. I thought she had a cough from seasonal allergies. We were sent to Riley ED for a CT scan which confirmed a 5cm X 7cm (atleast) tumor in her posterior lung/chest area. After a ton of consults with oncology and surgery here, it was agreed upon to remove the tumor. She goes into surgery at 7:30 in the morning. It will last 2-4 hours and will have a long recovery here and at home. The surgery will be done through an incision from chest and back transversely through the rib area so it can hopefully be removed in one piece. The tumor will be biopsied to determine the next treatment plan. We’re confident we are in the right place and are faithful that this surgeon is going to take care of our Mia. Prayers are appreciated! Thank you to our tribe for taking care of our Ava, home, pets and all the random things we’ve needed! ❤️❤️ She’s being treated like a princess and is in good spirits. She’s nervous and emotional at times scared of the surgery but she is so brave!
