Miami Dance Collective & Gabe Katz "MATTER" Film

Miami Dance Collective, in collaboration with Choreographer Gabe Katz is proud to announce the short film production of "MATTER".

What is Matter? MATTER is a collection of physical ideas exploring ephemerality, endless space and time, states of matter, resilience, and endurance. It’s a demonstration of constant process, of never-ending research, and of authentic in the moment decision making. Through our creation process, we developed an extensive collection of tasks, visuals, and narratives that bring us into the same world. We enriched our dancing with conversations of film, science, visual inspiration, and what it means to share and perform an art form that impacts us so deeply, but often disappears and leaves no permanent traces behind. We learned to celebrate, admire, and be inspired by each other. We challenged our brains and bodies and their ability to commit to a collective goal. How can you help? Miami Dance Collective is looking for donations to help fund this exciting new project. Project funds will be used to compensate and cover travel expenses for: Videographers: Amplified Media Team (Mike Murphy, Drew "Dizzy" Graham and Dyson Campbell) and Choreographer Gabe Katz as well as help cover the costs of rental space at AVC Studios on March 9-10, 2024.

Why? Miami Dance Collective creates new and unique opportunities for its pre professional dance students and we saw this to be a beneficial next step and experience in their dance journey. Being part of the process of a dance on film will be a priceless learning experience from pre-production to shoot day.

What happens next? Miami Dance Collective and Gabe Katz plan to submit the short film to Film Festivals and Events to share our story with the Arts community.
