Let's Help Mia Fight Leukemia!
Donation protected

This is Mia. Mia is a beautiful, happy, fun & very loving two year old little girl with down syndrome who loves ANY kind if animal, especially puppies! On March 25, 2015, Mia was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. ALL is the most common type of leukemia in children, it produces too many abnormal white blood cells in her blood and bone marrow. The result is over crowding of the abnormal WBCs so there isn't enough room for healthy red blood cells which carry oxygen to her tissues or enough platelets to stop bleeding through clotting. The immature WBCs also invade other vital organs, not just her blood and bone marrow, like her spinal cord, brain, liver, and spleen.

As of right now, Mia is in Cookes Children's Hospital being a tough little soldier battling this nasty cancer. She is undergoing chemotherapy, and to do so, she has had to have a port inserted into her chest and a spinal tap so the medicine can reach her spine and brain more quickly. Originally, they thought the stay at the hospital would only be for a month, then they would be able to come back home and go back every two weeks for more chemo. Unfortunately, now it is looking like a longer stay, Mia is having to receive blood transfusions due to a fever and her platelets becoming too low.

Mia's main support is her single mother Kari Cooper. Kari is forced to leave her other daughter, five year old Isabel, with her parents so she can care for Mia. She's also had to quit working due to the fact that she's at the hospital 24/7. As you can imagine, this is a very tough battle for everyone emotionally, and financially. Kari's only concern at this point should be getting her baby girl well. Let's help her out, take one less worry off her plate, and make sure she doesn't have to stress about finances. Any donation, prayer, and kind word is greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read about Mia's long journey she has ahead of her, God is on our side, and with him anything is possible! We will keep you updated as she progresses! Thank you!
