Some of you know that for a few weeks now we had been trialing a rehome (with a view to keep) a senior French bulldog called Mia as a companion for our boy Nelson.

Mia was in search of a new home because her little human sister had developed a severe allergy to her.

The family had tried all that they could to manage keeping her in the home but a heartbreaking decision had to be made.

A couple weeks prior to this decision to rehome, Mia had sustained what was thought to be a minor neck strain that came out of the blue.

Medications seemed to be keeping her comfortable enough until recently.

It seems her injury is much worse than initially assessed or that she has deteriorated and she could have IVDD (intervertebral disk disease). She had been in a lot of pain and required two urgent visits to the Vet for additional and change to medications.

There is no way to know what’s going on with this little girl without a CT or MRI which will put her owners under financial stress and even more so if surgery is required.

They do not have pet insurance - although a-lot do not cover treatment for IVDD.

Mia has gone back to owners so that medical treatment can be sorted.

We loved her like our own and she slotted into our family like she had always been here.

My kids ask about her multiple times a day and when is she coming back.

I don’t want to sit back and wait and not know what to tell them so would like to do something, anything to help her get the treatment she deserves.

She is the sweetest little girl, don’t let her greying jowls fool you.

She has loads of energy, loves her walks, loves a chat and is an absolute snuggle hunny.

Nelson is missing his sun buddy as much as we are missing having her little face around.
