By the time you finish this sentence, someone in the world would have developed dementia.
- Annabelle:
My nana (Carol Gill) was diagnosed with dementia in 2015, over 10 years ago. This was my first experience seeing someone I love develop dementia. At first, it seemed a silly disease, I remember finding 6 adapters all put into one plug in the wall and laughing about it. However, as time went on, it became harder to use humour as a means of coping. Sadly, my nana is now in the last few stages of dementia. Through this fundraiser, I hope not only to raise money but to raise awareness. Dementia is a cruel disease and I want more people to be aware of its impact.
- Mia:
After battling with dementia, my nanny Amos sadly passed away in 2017. This was a really difficult time for me and my family and in memory of nanny Amos, I will be running the London landmarks half marathon. I wanted to run this half marathon to raise awareness and money for dementia UK. This disease is devastating for families and my aim is to help support anyone going through what me and my family did.
We are raising money for 2 charities, Dementia UK and Alzheimers Society.
We know donations to large charities may feel small, but please know that every donation makes a huge difference and is very much appreciated by us both. ❤️
