Mia's Mitzvah Project
Donation protected
In 2008, I received an American Girl Doll named Mia that my grandparents gave to me because my name is Mia. It turns out that both sets of my grandparents got me the Mia Doll for the same reason! Instead of keeping both, I decided to donate one of the dolls to a girl in the children’s surgical wing of the Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C.
That started a big tradition of me saving money to buy the American Girl Doll of the year to donate to the hospital every year since I was three years old. In the past, each doll has gone to a special girl who is going through major medical procedure and cannot afford toys.
I have been donating a doll each year for nine years. As I am becoming a bat mitzvah, for my charity project I am trying to raise money to donate several American Girl Dolls to girls in the Georgetown University Hospital who are undergoing major medical treatment.
I am asking my friends and family to support this project and donate any amount of money towards the purchase of the dolls. The more money I raise, the more dolls will be purchased and given to these special girls, bringing them joy. I am also asking Mattel, makers of American Girl to donate dolls to Georgetown University Hospital.
Thank you for supporting my mitzvah project.
