Hola, soy Joshua, un joven hondureño de 26 años que llegó al País Vasco en busca de protección. Huí de Honduras porque mi vida estaba en peligro tras recibir amenazas de muerte.

Pedí asilo a principios de 2023, esperando encontrar seguridad y una nueva oportunidad. Pero hace poco me negaron la solicitud, a pesar del grave riesgo que corro si regreso. Las autoridades dijeron que “no es un problema” volver, pero para mí significa arriesgar mi vida.

Esta negativa me dejó sin estatus legal, sin trabajo, sin apoyo y sin un lugar estable donde vivir. He buscado ayuda en varias organizaciones, pero aún no he encontrado solución.

Además, lucho a diario con ansiedad y dolor crónico en la rodilla, que complican aún más esta situación. En un momento tan oscuro, llegué a intentar quitarme la vida. Por suerte, sigo aquí, con la esperanza de salir adelante.

Hello, I’m Joshua, a 26-year-old young man from Honduras who arrived in the Basque Country seeking protection. I fled Honduras because my life was in danger after receiving death threats.

I applied for asylum in early 2023, hoping to find safety and a new opportunity. But recently, my application was denied, despite the serious risk I face if I return. The authorities said it’s “not a problem” to go back, but for me, it means risking my life.

This denial left me without legal status, without work, without support, and without a stable place to live. I have sought help from various organizations, but I still haven’t found a solution.

Additionally, I struggle daily with anxiety and chronic knee pain, which make this situation even harder. In a very dark moment, I even tried to take my own life. Luckily, I’m still here, holding onto hope to move forward.
