I told this story (below) when Lisa first called me to tell me about Dan's diagnosis. The family had just lost their insurance, and then came the C word. Dan's lymphoma has recurred. While we continue wholeheartedly to pray for healing, treatment is expensive - and should be the last thing Dan and Lisa should have to worry about while they are facing this. HOW DAN'S JOURNEY BEGAN:
Sometimes life brings us down, and sometimes it takes us out at the knees. My dear friends Dan and Lisa Reid have had their lives radically changed in just a few short months! Lisa’s job came to an abrupt end after 19 years and the family business lost a major account due to technological upgrades. Their family of 5 has always had an amazing ability to bounce back from adversity, but while struggling with their new financial challenges and the loss of their health insurance, Dan, having never been sick a day in his life, was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma!
They are moving forward with all of the necessary tests and treatments without knowing how to pay for them. These funds will be used for Dan’s treatment, which will likely cost more than the $150,000 goal.
Dan is starting chemotherapy in a week and each treatment will cost several thousand dollars. He will also have oncology appointments, heart and lung tests as well as a port placement. He was recently hospitalized for 5 days undergoing biopsies and a PET scan, and this first bill came in at more than $30,000.
Dan and Lisa have always been generous, involved in the community and in the school and with school sports with their three kids, Amanda (24), Brendan (20) and Emma (15). They have stepped in and helped out countless others, including giving children a safe place to stay when they couldn’t stay in their own homes. They have asked for nothing in return.
Lisa and Dan gave me a job nearly 20 years ago and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support. We started off as acquaintances and became lifelong friends.
Their kindness toward others has been quiet and unassuming, and neither would ask for help. I am doing that for them. Would you please consider helping Dan in the fight for his life?
