Help Jen Beat Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Mim McConnell, Jennifer Robinson's mom, and we need your help in her battle against breast cancer.
Jen was first diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ high-grade (DCIS) in 2021. Fortunately, it was non-invasive and so not life-threatening. She had a lumpectomy (two surgeries) and then a month of radiation. We knew there was a possibility that cancer could reoccur and early this summer, two spots were discovered in the same breast. The resulting biopsy confirmed that the cancer has returned. She is fortunate again to have caught it early, still DCIS, so non-invasive, but her oncology team wants to take a more aggressive approach this time and has recommended a double mastectomy.
Jen will be undergoing three surgeries in the coming year. The first will be a double mastectomy on August 21st. This will be followed by a DIEP flap reconstruction surgery six to nine months later. The final reconstructive surgery will be a few months after the DIEP flap reconstruction. Right now, I am raising funds for the first surgery.
So far, around $9,000 is needed for medical bills accrued since March 2023 and to pay for the upcoming out-of-pocket costs for the two surgeons who will operate on her on August 21st. $2,000 is due to the plastic surgeon by August 9th to reserve this doctor for the upcoming surgery on the 21st.
Jen also needs help keeping up with day-to-day expenses for a couple of months. She is self-employed and has just learned that she will not be able to use her computer for two weeks after the surgery (no reaching or lifting over 5 pounds), so this means no income for a while. I rounded up to $15,000 as a goal for this first phase. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and helpful during this difficult time.
Thank you for caring and for your financial support.
