Help Ishah Recover From Medical Emergency
Donation protected
We are putting this fundraiser together for our dear friend Leslie and his very loved fur companion named Ishah, who we love as our own. Ishah and her Auntie Siena were at the West Oakland dog park on Tuesday September 26, 2023 around 3:20pm. They arrived and were playing fetch for no longer than 10 minutes when Ishah went down HARD, catching her front right leg in a deep pothole. It was a scary sight to see a loved pup screaming in pain.
This normal everyday outing resulted in a Y-T humeral fracture. Her humerus bone fractured in 3 distinct pieces at the elbow. She went into emergency surgery to rebuild the elbow with plates and screws. The surgery took 7 hours and she was kept overnight at the vet for a total of 3 nights. This has all been an out of pocket expense for Leslie.
Unfortunately, there have been some complications in her recovery. Ishah is now suffering from necrosis from her forearm down to her foot. She is currently on a treatment plan for this. However, this is another added out of pocket expense to the total cost of care so far. She will be seen this Thursday Oct. 19 to see if amputation and/or removal of the plates and screws will be needed from original surgery to move forward on her healing journey.
Ishah is 5 years old and deserves the best life going forward. She is a smart and loving pup and very much loved and cared for by her owner Leslie. She is loved by so many; we want the best treatment possible for our lady and help lighten the financial load for our caring friend Leslie that takes such good care of Ishah and his friends around him.
DOG BLESS
UPDATE 11/12/23:
After all the efforts and costly surgery, Ishah’s leg didn’t heal and amputation was necessary. She is now learning to live her life with 3 legs.
