Oliver's Jaw Surgery
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Holly, and I'm trying to raise funds to cover Oliver's jaw surgery. Oliver is an especially lovey boy who loves nothing more than sitting in your lap and finding ways to con you for treats.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck while my partner and I were away from home; his breakaway collar got stuck wrapped around his head/in his mouth, and the safety mechanism failed. Our little dumb-dumb broke his jaw trying to get unstuck. We took him to a Vet Urgent Care facility, who took one look at him and said this was a special case and they weren't going to even attempt to help on this one. We called darn near every vet in our city trying to find ANYONE who would help our poor guy, and we finally found OKC Vet Campus! They are an absolutely amazing place that helped us in a time where we were starting to give up hope. They had us bring him in immediately and got him taken back for x-rays. The findings were not great...he had completely broken the top of his ramus/coronoid process (upper part of the lower jaw that connects to the socket) off. This would require a rather extreme dental surgery to fix that needs to be done by a feline dental specialist. Turns out, there's just one of those in our state, about two hours away. And of course, it was going to be pricey.
Oliver is scheduled for surgery on Friday, March 14th. We are trying to scrape together any funds we can to help pay for this surgery. We have been quoted anywhere from $3,000-$7,000 for the surgery alone, not to mention the MRI & medications he'll need, or the $1,000 we've already spent at various vets for x-rays, pain meds, exams, and custom-made bandages/muzzles.
Any little bit will help with paying for his dental surgery. If we end up making more money on donations than is needed, any extra will be donated to our local (Oklahoma City metro) animal rescue group, Second Chance Animal Rescue.
