Help get #AdrianCancerFree by 2023

Hi, we are Gracie, Sarah and Emily, and we created this fundraiser for our dad, Adrian.
Adrian is our family treasure
He's the one everyone looks up to, the one everyone gets excited to see. He lights up the room, loves to make everyone laugh, shows everyone they’re loved, and brings everyone together. He values family more than anything else, and we value him just as much. Our family and lives wouldn’t be the same without him, which is why we need your help to help him beat prostate cancer.
Adrian’s story
On New Year's Eve 2013, our dad was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with H1N1 and Pneumonia. He was in a coma for a month and remained hospitalized for 2 months. Doctors prepared us for the worst, but quitting and giving up aren’t words in his vocabulary. He fought hard and eventually made a full recovery.
Or so we thought. Unbeknownst to us, the virus had damaged his kidneys, and in May 2020, we learned he was now in Stage 5 Kidney Disease. He was told he would have to be on dialysis permanently until he got a Kidney transplant. Determined to maintain an everyday active life where he could continue working and remain actively involved in his kids’ and grandkids’ lives, he completely changed his diet, and his kidney disease improved from Stage 5 to Stage 4.
He had just learned that dialysis was no longer necessary when a routine prostate exam this past July revealed the presence of an aggressive form of cancer. Just like he has with every other challenge he's faced, our dad fully intends to beat this and to be making us laugh (and sometimes groan) at his dad jokes for many years to come.

How your donations can help
We created this fundraiser to help with current and anticipated future medical expenses in Adrian’s fight against prostate cancer and to help cover the costs of additional bills during times when his ability to work is limited. Even with insurance, cancer treatments are costly. Our family has covered the costs for many tests, scans and the multiple specialists he’s seen over the past few months, totaling more than $8,000, but this financial strain pulls the focus away from beating cancer.
Our dad put off starting hormone therapy his doctor wanted to put him on at the beginning of December to help slow the spread and reduce the cancer size because he could not afford the $3,400 out-of-pocket expense. This has caused him to remain on a catheter inserted back in September of 2021 and has resulted in 6 additional doctor visits and 3 trips to the Emergency Room racking up an additional $5,000 in medical bills. As uncomfortable and inconvenient as this is, he still continues to work a physically demanding job to help offset the burden of these mounting bills.
This coming year he will be facing additional treatments, including radiation and possible surgery for his cancer, and we don’t know what effect that could have on his kidneys. Our dad is always one to lend a helping hand, and now we want to return the favor by helping him get the treatments he needs without worrying about how the costs of his treatments will affect his family.
Your support matters.
Little by little, a little becomes a lot. We would be beyond grateful for any support you can provide. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. If everyone who reads this donated even $5, it would make a huge difference. Also, please consider sharing this, as the more people who see this, the greater chance we have of reaching our goal.
The world needs more people like our dad.
His family needs him; we need him to be there to see us graduate from college and to walk us down the aisle; his grandson needs him to be there to take him driving (just pretend for now, but for real when he turns 16); his brother and sisters and nieces and nephews need their brother and uncle to be there to pick on them and give them a hard time; our mom needs him to be by her side through their golden years (and to get her drink refills), and he needs to be here to see the Cowboys win another Super Bowl (so he’s really going to have to stick around for a while to see that!). If you choose to help make all of this possible, thank you! And thank you for all the love, support and prayers.
