Update:
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I appreciate every generous donor!!! It has been such a blessing not worrying about finances as I recover from surgery. Speaking of which, my surgery and the liver recipient's surgery both went exactly as planned. Surgery was on June 1st. I went home from the hospital on June 4th and he went home on the 13th. We're both doing very well.
I cannot thank you enough. Thank you!
Hello, friends, family members, strangers, and enemies!
I'm scheduled to donate my liver (well, 60% of it anyways) to a friend on Thursday, June 1st. I'm currently planning to go back to work on July 5th (I hope it will be sooner, though it may be later). Short-term disability *should* help with a portion of my lost wages, and I'm hoping for some help with the remainder. Anything raised here will go towards my usual living expenses during the ~5 weeks that I am out of work.
If you're interested in learning more about living-donor tranplants, check this out. So far it's been a dream working with the transplant team at UPMC.
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
Many thanks!
