4x4x48 for Karrah
Donation protected
After reading David Goggins's book, "Can't Hurt Me," my sweet friend (and my very first client) Karrah mentioned that I should do his challenge coming up in March called "The 4x4x48." You run four miles every four hours for forty-eight hours. She said that she had done it the year before, and her goal was never to walk, which she didn't, and that was with her battling her second round of cancer! She explained this challenge to me while I was working with her in her garage right before Christmas. Karrah had just been cleared to work out again after being diagnosed with cancer for the third time. At the time, I thought to myself, "yeah, I may try to do that."
As time drew closer, I knew this challenge would be tough. I've had many thoughts along the way like; "No one will know if I didn't do it. So there's nothing to lose". But with Karrah in my heart and the verbal challenge she gave me that day, it wouldn't be so easy to get out of. Even if she didn't remember saying it, I heard it and that's all that counts. She's one of the most influential people I know. Her drive, discipline, and the fight she has in her rages like a fire. Her love for others and her passion for life is infectious. Amid her battle with cancer, she has helped change my perspective on so many things. She has undoubtedly impacted my life and the lives of so many other people and continues to do so.
So for this challenge, she is my "WHY." Sharing her story and love for life is the reason I GET to do this challenge. My mindset went from negative to purposefull: I don't HAVE to. I GET to. I tell myself "Damn straight you GET to! If Karrah could, she'd be out there running at 3 am with a headlamp past the bars to show people what hard work looks like!"
If you would like to join me on one or more of the four-mile runs, I'll be starting Friday, March 5th at 8 pm. I'll be running at time slots of 8 pm, 12 am, 4 am, 12 pm and 4 pm until 48 hours is up. I'll be sure to post the route I'll be taking, so you can run with me for a wonderful cause.
Whether you are able to run with me or not , you can donate to help with medical expenses or anything Karrah and Micah may need while she continues to fight the good fight. Thank you so much, I look forward to running with some of you (or all of you)!
