Hello. Thank you for visiting our fundraiser page. My sister, Jen was diagnosed with breast cancer in December. We are raising funds to help cover medical costs as well as other expenses. I will update this page with new details as we move forward. We are still getting new information every week and learning more about how this journey will unfold. So far, she has been meeting with her oncologist and has had a PET scan. We know that it has spread to one lymph node. But there are more scans and tests that need to be done. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your love and support!
Jan 21: Update on the Bronchoscopy from last week..
The Bronchoscopy was done to test 2 more lymph nodes located near the lungs that showed concern from the PET scan. The procedure went really well. They found that the lymph nodes were not actually attached to the lungs, but located just above each side. They did an ultrasound and a biopsy to test for cancer. One lymph node came back positive for cancer. This complicated the diagnoses and treatment plan, as it is not common. She has what is called Oliometastatic Breast Cancer. This is an intermediate state between locally advanced and widely metastatic disease. This leaves a small window to act quickly with aggressive treatment before it spreads any further. If it spreads any more than it already has, there is a high chance it will not be curable. She will be starting her first round of chemotherapy January 31st.
All of your support has been so wonderful! It truly means the world to us. We are going to increase our goal from 10,000 to 15,000. We hope that we can keep this momentum going and help Jen through this journey. Thank you all, so much!
