In July 2014 I was struck with a massive heart attack leading to heart failure. Thankfully, I am an EMT and was working the day it happened. Doctors say if I hadn't already been on an ambulance I'd have been gone.
Heart failure has robbed me of the job I love and so much more. My little girl wants to know when I'll get better. Just doing the everyday tasks take so much out of me now.
The journey to having a heart transplant has begun. And a scary one it is with my wife and 4 young kids depending on me. I was such an active guy. Working on the truck 90+ hours a week and playing with the kids. Now this. It will only get harder before there may be any sign of relief with the transplant. First next month we will find out if my heart is even strong enough to wait for a new heart. If not I'll have to have a Lvad placed.
This all means no working for me, more out of town doctors appointments and hospital stays, and my wife taking time off from work to go with me.
One income for 6 just doesn't go far enough. Funds will go toward medical expenses and travel to and from doctor/hospital and just keeping our head above water.
