Jeff’s Journey
Donation protected
After years of symptoms and months of endless appointments, my brother, Jeff Kovalchik has been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of blood cancer known as Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia.
It is a malignant b-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that affects 5 in 1 million people and represents only 2% of all blood cancer patients. In addition to the cancer diagnosis, his specialists also found a very rare auto inflammatory disease called Schnitzler’s Syndrome. There are only 300 known reported cases of this disease in the world as of 2022.
He recently began his treatment regiment in the form of immunotherapy daily injections. If his symptoms are not improving within a few weeks, they will proceed with chemotherapy.
Most of us know him for his humor and witty sarcasm, but behind that facade is a selfless man whose heart is full of compassion for everyone he encounters, friend or stranger. Becoming a Paramedic was more of a calling than a career for him. His unwavering commitment to serving so many communities has touched the lives of so many people over the years.
With so many uncertainties surrounding this incredibly rare diagnosis the only thing we know for sure is that Jeff will have a long road ahead of him. Together we can alleviate some of the financial stress that will arise due to lost wages, medical expenses, travel costs, etc.
Every Prayer, every Share and every dollar donated is appreciated beyond words.
