Swipe Left: the series

We are excited to announce that our incredible cast and crew have completed filming the first season of Swipe Left! Swipe Left is a comedic series that follows a recently single woman, Ella, and her wacky group of friends as they navigate Tinder and New York City.

Here’s some of the things we’ve accomplished so far:

*Pilot won 1st place in the Made in NY Film Festival
*Premiered as an official selection of the Harlem Hip Hop Film Festival
*Invited to attend the Independent Television Film Festival in October to pitch the show to several networks, including NBC and Netflix.
*Filmed an entire season of five, 30-minute episodes (150 pages) in 11 days.
*Synchronized a team of the best talent in the industry – from our actors to our director to our camera crew.
*Initiated a dialogue with executives at Comedy Central about the show.
*Created a rewarding experience for everyone involved; an egalitarian set where everyone was invited to contribute their ideas and talents.

We’ve come a long way from the days of doing readings at the Theatre Lab on 38th street and we still have work to do. This is where you come in. Until now, the production has been entirely self-funded by our creator and producer, Leonarda Jonie.

Leonarda worked 3 different jobs to save over $12,000 in order to pay every single person who contributed their talent to the production. Having worked herself on non-paying productions that were sold as an “opportunity”, Leonarda wanted her set to be different, even if that meant using her own money. And while the project has been entirely self-funded until now, we’ve seen the magic that can happen when you allow others to contribute.

So, we are inviting you to contribute your own special magic and to become a contributor to help us bring this project to the next level.

Your contribution will help us fund the post-production and marketing campaign that will bring our project to a wider audience. It will also help us cut a sizzle reel, which will be used in pitch meetings to land the show on a network.
