MG Ferguson- Meyering, from Jonesboro, Arkansas was diagnosed on January 17, 2024 with Critical Multiple Myeloma; a rare blood cancer that eats away bone and marrow. This was discovered after he broke his arm in Washington DC after loading up a small table into his SUV. We’re still not sure exactly how his forearm broke, but X-rays revealed there was a three inch tumor on the radius and that the bone under it was non existent. He was diagnosed on Jan 17, 2024 after spending more than a week testing at UAMS in Little Rock and and was told 80% of his bone marrow was cancer. He has undergone his first chemotherapy treatment. MG will be having a stem cell transplant here soon, after another, more aggressive chemotherapy treatment. MG, a highly successful interior designer and contractor is utilizing help of friends who are trained professionals to help run his business and keep a form of income coming in, while he is back and forth to Little Rock being treated for this cancer. MG also has donated countless hours in the Jonesboro community for the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, being a Goodwill Ambassador, volunteered as CEO and President of Habitat For Humanity of Jonesboro for ten years, served on the board of directors as vice-president for Jonesboro Downtown Alliance, board of directors for the Family Crisis Center, BancorpSouth community advisory group, Reclamation House ministries and president of the Delta Symphony Orchestra. While MG does have medical insurance there are so many medical costs that are not covered that he will need assistance for. There is currently a core group of friends, clients and neighbors who are running errands, making meals, praying and giving support. His spouse, is currently employed and working in DC, but cannot be in Jonesboro to be the caregiver MG needs during this time. Now what we need is a little help funding some of these medical bills, so MG can get the care he needs to continue living, designing and thriving to make Jonesboro a beautiful place we all call our home. It is important we rally behind MG after all the time and sacrifices he has made to make Jonesboro the best place to live.
Funds have already been used for transportation to and from Jonesboro to Little Rock. Future funds will be used for additional living expenses while needing to live in Little Rock for daily out patient treatments from April to June 2024
