On January 5, our dear friend Karen’s life changed in an instant. An unexpected autoimmune attack on her spine left her paralyzed from the waist down.

If you know Karen, you know her strength. She’s a devoted mother of three, with her oldest, Aiden, just starting his freshman year of college. Even through the fear and uncertainty of those first days, she faced everything with quiet determination and grace.

Health and wellness have always been at the center of Karen’s life—not only personally, but professionally. Her career has been built around fitness and helping others feel their best. To have her mobility suddenly taken from her has been life-altering. Yet, true to who she is, Karen continues to approach her recovery with the same discipline and optimism she’s always inspired in others.

Over the past several months, she’s endured high-dose steroid treatments, IVIG infusions, and Plasmapheresis through a port in her neck, followed by hours of physical therapy. Her resilience is paying off: little by little, she’s begun to regain some mobility. Every step, every small victory, is a reminder of her unshakable spirit.

Now, Karen’s next chapter begins. The next phase of her healing journey includes hyperbaric chamber treatment, red light therapy, robotic legs, and other integrative medicine approaches -- all of which offer real hope for continued progress. Unfortunately, none of these are covered by insurance.
