Hi, my name is Anna and I’m trying to raise funds for my dog Mavis.

She ran from her new dog walker at Arthur’s Seat a few weeks ago now and was found having been hit by a car near Meadowbank Shopping centre.

Sadly the driver just drove off.

An update on her care: We are still waiting to hear from the insurers but in the meantime the vet has sprung an unexpected charge of £4k which apparently wasn't already included in the final bill.

This has left me heartbroken. The insurance should cover £10k of the bill, but this additional £4k isn't covered and on top of that I've now got aftercare which I'm sure will also mount up.

Had I known this at the time, I wouldn't have had the choice but to put her down.

I'm really desperate for some help and a bit at a loss for what to do. Those that have donated so far, you have no idea what your kindness and generosity means! If we can help spread the work further that would be so appreciated!

A bit about what happened:

Mavis survived by some miracle but was left with a pelvis fractured in three places and two broken back legs. Both of which needed specialist operations involving pins both external and internal.

I live alone and this wee dog is my everything. She’s only 2.5 and I hope has a lot more life to live.
