Hi everyone, we’re Maiar and Pardis, two final-year medical students currently completing our elective at El Demerdash Hospital in Cairo. At the heart of Cairo, El Demerdash (the teaching hospital of Ain Shams University) serves as a lifeline for millions. From complex polytrauma to paediatrics, this hospital never turns anyone away, no matter their ability to pay. Doctors and nurses work around the clock, often with limited supplies, outdated equipment, and overwhelming patient loads. Still, the care they provide is nothing short of heroic.

But compassion alone isn’t enough.

In many departments, basic diagnostic tools, sterile supplies, and surgical equipment are in short supply. The hospital has the heart, the skill, and the will. What it needs now is support. We’re raising funds to help provide essential equipment during our time here. Every penny raised will go straight to where it’s needed most.
