Help Lucy Overcome Her Health Battle

Donation protected
My name is Gloria, and I’m the proud Mama of sweet Lucy. Lucy is a rescue from Arkansas who came into my life and changed my world a little over three years ago. She was born and lived the first two years of her life outdoors with at least 100 other dogs and very little to no known human contact. She had two to three litters (that we know of) and once rescued, she nursed the litter of a fellow dog in her pack who had sadly passed away. She came to me as a scared and insecure, nervous but extremely sweet girl; and has slowly grown into the bravest, strongest, smartest, silliest, most strong willed, sensitive, gentle, loving girl I could have ever been blessed with. She has changed my world in ways I could have never imagined, and I’m a better person everyday for having her and her love in my life.

A couple of weeks ago, Lucy was starting to show signs of a UTI. When her labs came back clean, it was suggested I bring her in for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed some
minor changes with her kidneys, but what I did not expect was for them to find two masses on her spleen. We had a surgical consult this weekend and they have suggested we quickly move forward with a splenectomy, as they are suspicious of cancer. The estimate for this procedure and subsequent biopsy of her spleen (as well as a liver sample) is over $7,500. I am moving forward with this surgery, as I would be willing to max out all of my finances, retirement, and credit cards to do whatever I can possibly do to keep my baby girl healthy. Lucy has other, less serious, health issues which require her to eat only prescription food. This food costs me over $350/month, of which I receive a partial refund from my pet insurance. Due to her prescription food requirements, as well as the specialist appointments and imaging costs I have already incurred leading up to this surgery, I’m close to hitting the maximum reimbursement allowed from her insurance for the year. This is leaving me no choice but to put her surgery on my credit cards and try to find a way to pay them off over time. This is going to be a huge hardship for me, but nowhere close to as much of a hardship as losing my baby would be. She is my heart.

I create this gofundme to humbly ask anyone willing to donate to Lucy in support of her upcoming surgery. 100% of every last cent raised will go toward her upcoming hospital bills, and any follow up care (such as chemotherapy) needed. Though I pray everyday the results will be benign and the surgery will be the end of this difficult chapter for her. If you cannot donate, I ask that you please keep Lucy in your thoughts and prayers and send her all the positive, healing support you can.

I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for considering helping my girl through this scary time in her life.
