Eric's Medical Fund surviving MRSA

Donation protected

I am Eric Robinson. On December 23, 2015, my life was rearranged for me. We were rear-ended by a driver as we were waiting at a yield sign for traffic to ease up.
Everyone else in the van survived with no injuries, just shaken up. I had gotten whiplash. The next day, I started getting an earache.
I don't really remember much after that. I have been told events that happened, but I honestly don't remember much. I do know that I came-to in the hospital on the 31st of December. I was told that I had meningitis, but they weren't sure what type or how I contracted it. What I do know is that at the accident scene, there were a lot of people touching me, trying to make sure that I was ok. They had done the same with my wife and kids.
A few days later, after they performed an CAT Scan, I was told I have a small hole in my left temporal bone. They don't know where the hole came from, nor do I, but they do theorize that's where the bacterial Meningitis came from. The doctors later discovered it was MRSA Meningitis.
I was in the ICU for 4 days, and in a regular hospital room for 8 more days. I was then transferred to a rehabilitation clinic for 5 days. I was then scheduled for outpatient IV therapy for an additional 13 days through my  PIC Line (22 days total with the PIC Line).
I am finally scheduled for surgery on May 3rd of this year to get the hole closed.
My insurance has done a great job at covering most of the medical bills, but I still have a good deal of them that need to be covered by me.
The money I am raising will cover my part of the medical bills that remains. I have already paid over $1000 in bills and fees, but I have $15000 (approximately) to go.
The surgery will be mostly covered by insurance, but I will be left with the remainder. I however, do not know what this amount will be, but my insurance company approximates it to be between $9- $10K
My company has been great and allowed me to work as much OT as I could handle since I was able to return to work in the beginning of February; and all of this is going to pay off this medical debt. However, I can not pay off this huge debt with OT alone.
I now know I need to swallow my pride and ask for help from the generous people in this world.
We are a single income family with 4 kids.

So I am asking for $15000.
I already have some medical bills being threatened to go into collections because I can't pay them the lump sum that is owed.

No matter how much can be raised, it will mean the world to me and my family.
Any funds that I don't use to cover the medical bills, I plan to pass on to another person in need.

Always,
J. Eric Robinson
