Madi Holden is a 23-year-old from Middletown RI. She has recently been diagnosed and struggling with several incurable, rare diseases resulting in multiple hospitalizations, daily appointments with specialists, and costly prescriptions. Just within this past year, Madison has had over 100 ER visits, and multiple hospitalizations. Due to the complexity of these rare diseases that Madi is battling, the incredible doctors she has been seeing in Boston will be transferring some of her care to Johns Hopkins Medical Facility in Maryland. Between traveling to Boston and Maryland, expensive treatments, copays, and hospital visits, the medical bills have become more than overwhelming for the family. Madi’s mom, Meri Keller, has been taking time off to take Madi to numerous medical appointments on a regular basis. She is close to exhausting her vacation and sick leave and will be taking time off from work without pay.
Madi has recently been diagnosed with lupus, dermatomyositis, gastroparesis, autonomic dysfunction, sympathetic adrenergic dysfunction, cerebral auto regulatory failure, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), complex regional pain syndrome, functional neurological disorder with functional seizures. Madi, who recently graduated from Rhode Island College in May, had accepted a Grade 2 teaching position that she was to start this past August, but unfortunately, due to her current medical condition, she is unable to work, drive, and has been limited to using mobility devices to get around. We are deeply hopeful and thankful as we seek your support to ensure that Madi receives the necessary care that she requires.
With the giving nature of Madi and her mom, Meri, you can imagine that asking for support and help is extremely humbling and difficult. Between the two of them, they have always gone above and beyond and have helped fundraise for various charities and organizations. With Madi’s current inability to earn an income, her loved ones have been working tirelessly to help support her financially and help her tackle the mountain of medical bills that have accumulated. With the debt growing daily, and Madi continuing to get testing and treatment done we ask you to help in any way you can. There is no donation too small or too big. We are here to help Madi not only survive through this process but thrive.
Thank you for your time, energy, donations, and love.
