Mette Miriam Bentow in her struggels with cancer.

 

"Hi – I am Mette Miriam. And I wish I wasn't writing this! My family (husband plus three kids) and I recently moved from Copenhagen to Israel. A bit sad to leave Denmark, where we were all born, but full of hope to build a better and safer life for ourselves, a life where our Jewish identity can thrive and flourish. It's been a long journey deciding to relocate and make Aliyah – a big part of it was the terror attack in 2015 at my daughter Hannah's bat mitzvah. The past six months in Israel have been great! We felt the changes and saw an immediate improvement in our children as they were given a new and safe environment to grow in - we felt our Jewish roots go deeper, and we have built new friendships and rekindled old ones. But – and this is where it gets hard for me to write – I was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago. We are not without hope, there are treatments, and I have begun them. But it is hard on my body and soul. In addition, I am the main breadwinner in the family, so our financial situation is challenging since I have had to stop working. While the treatments themselves are free, so many things connected to them are not (transportation to the hospital; alternative supportive medication; gently attention to my body such as acupuncture and massages), and all three kids still live at home, so I am feeding a family of five with only one income now. That's why we started this campaign – to collect funds to help me through the next months and please God with s speedy recovery without constantly worrying about paying the bills. I am profoundly grateful for your donation and that you took the time to show us your kindness and healing.
