Masjid Al - Iman, commonly known as Metrotown Musallaah, is just a few steps away from Metrotown Mall, Burnaby. It plays a vital role for the surrounding Muslim community, providing daily prayer services for both genders, and Sunday school for kids. The prayer hall also organizes weekly jumuah prayers which deeply benefits Muslims working around the area. Its prime location has been a great relief for Muslim shoppers at Metrotown Mall, who can easily walk to the prayer hall anytime and not miss their prayers. Despite all the good work coming out of this small community center, they've been constantly struggling with finances and barely holding on to the property. There have been attempts from other businesses to acquire the property, and if finances remain a struggle, the community may lose this Musallah - May Allah protect. Financially, the biggest concern is the monthly rent - $4100, which is mainly collected through individual donations and is always a close call towards the end of the month. Our aim with this fundraiser is to raise $50,000, which will help sustain the Musallah's rental fee for the next year (2018). Every single donation counts and we ask you to spend from what Allah (God) has given you. Every single dollar matter. If you're unable to donate, we humbly request you to share this campaign! JazakumAllahu Khairan.
About me: My name is Tahsin Kabir and I recently graduated from University of British Columbia (Okanagan) with Electrical Engineering Degree. I am one of the volunteers at the Musallah. I will be taking care of this campaign and be responsible for making sure the money is deposited from the campaign to the Musallah on time. All the money will be deposited to the Masjid's Bank Account. As mentioned before, the money is mainly collected to help with the rent. A 12 months rental comes to be $42900, and hence, a $50,000 goal has been set up.
