Methuselah Scholarship for GW Carver High School
Donation protected
This year marks the Second Annual Methuselah Scholarship. Following in the footsteps of the RCHS Scholarship, more than $9,500 total has been awarded to 15 different alumni. The Methuselah Scholarship is an internalized celebratory send-off for George Washington Carver's graduating Class of 2023. Deriving from its namesake, the scholarship aims at long-term, sustainable aid that promotes excellence in education. This year, the effort is to expand reach by adding GWC to the schools involved, as well as to elevate the communal support and make the send-off bigger than ever!
This year's essay prompt is:
“The unexamined life is not worth living.” ~ Socrates
Often in life there are lessons that must be learned through personal exposure, whether via experience or through reflection. Explain a lesson that it took you an extended period to unlearn. Where did this lesson originate for you? How were you able to recalibrate and reteach yourself? What application could your process have for others?
There will be 3 winning recipients chosen based on grades and essay submissions. Winning recipients will be announced at Signing Day on May 12th. All contributed funds will be dispensed to Carver and presented to awardees by May 19th.
