In Loving Memory of Merson Paul Melville- Sassika's Little Brother, Son to Penny and Mo.
9 March 2022 – 1st November 2025
On the morning of October 24th, little Merson’s heart suddenly stopped around 6.30am, as the family moved through their usual morning routine. He was fine, until he wasn’t. In those terrifying moments, his loving parents, Penny and Mo, did what every parent hopes they’ll never have to do, they immediately called 000 and performed CPR until help arrived. Merson was rushed to hospital and placed in a coma, and for most of the time, there was hope. Hope that his small but strong body just needed time to rest and recover. The doctors spoke, of a full recovery, of leaving the Royal Children’s Hospital together- that Merson simply needed time.
For a week, their world stood still, filled with love, hope, and prayer that Merson would open his eyes again. But despite every effort and every moment of waiting, on Saturday, November 1st, at 11:43am, surrounded by family and love, Merson Paul Melville took his final breath. He was just three years old.
Merson was a bright, happy, superhero-loving boy who adored his big sister Sassika and filled every room with joy. His absence has left an unimaginable ache in the hearts of all who knew him.
How You Can Help
Penny and Mo are the much-loved owners of Momentum Café in Karingal Hub, a space that reflects their warmth, laughter, and kindness. While the café continues to operate, Penny and Mo are its heart and soul, and their absence is deeply felt. The café remains open manned and cared for by their wonderful team, who have lovingly stepped in to give Penny and Mo the space they need to pause and breathe.
Running a small business is hard enough in the best of times, but doing so while navigating profound grief is beyond words. This fundraiser has been created to help ease some of the financial strain the family now faces. Your generosity will help cover funeral costs and give them the time and space to grieve and heal together as a family.
Penny and Mo are surrounded by the love and support of their big Greek family, who have filled their home with an abundance of care, meals, and practical help, more than enough to last. What they truly need now is the gift of time - time to rest, to grieve, and to begin to find their footing again.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that those wishing to help show their compassion through this GoFundMe. Every message, every donation, and every kind thought means the world.
Merson’s family wish to thank everyone for the love, care, and messages they’ve received. Each one is read, felt, and treasured deeply. Please leave your condolences or memories here, as they will be honored with the same love with which they are given.
