Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to read this story. My mother MerriLee who is by far the most amazing person I have ever met, and has touched the lives of all those who she has encountered recently had an accident. She fell and was severely injured. She has been trying to tough it out because she is so strong, but recently was not able to use her leg anymore, and losing feeling in her hands. So she went to the doctor to find out what was wrong. The doctor informed her she had a severely herniated disc in her neck which was affecting her spinal cord and if she did not have surgery immediately she could become paralyzed or even stop breathing. They will go through the front of her neck to get to her spin to make the repairs. They have informed my mother that some of the damage could be irreparable as it is but we do not wish for it to become any worse.
Imagine getting this news...in this era of your life. Imagine the flood of emotions and the surge of worry. The added burden of a health crisis, which in turn creates a financial crisis, is too much to bear all by yourself. It touches a nerve. It hits close to home. Reaching out to help MerriLee and her family in their time of need means more than a dollar amount. It means we are in this together. It means none of us are alone and that we can rely on each other to hold one another up when the bottom drops out.
My mother is always looking out for the well-being of others. She never asked anything of anyone. I'm asking for help since she does not have insurance and they informed her in order to do this emergency surgery she would need to come up with over $26,000.00 up front. At this point, she is not allowed to do anything for fear of what could happen and damage her spinal cord even worse.
With all that said, Please help me get her the surgery she so desperately needs, so we can get her back on her feet, and a smile back on her face. Let's give MerriLee a boost so she can get her pep back in her step!
