The Midwest Tank Project is about 5 years in the making. After half a dozen denied grant applications, hours of funding pleas, and years of watching and waiting - I was about ready to give up on my dream of owning a traveling tank show.
The shows were already written, the gigs were already booked, everyone was just waiting for a tank to fall into our hands. And now... one has.
Thanks to Siren Leviia Mermaid in Pittsburg, PA, a little tank that is practically perfect in every way is rolling into my hands, and I couldn't be more excited.
There is one problem: while I have the funds to bring it home, I don't have the funds to transform it into the vision I am dreaming of. So, this GoFundMe was created in tandem to this KickStarter: kickstarter.com/projects/mermaidecho
- The KickStarter is for: mermaids who want tank time
- This GoFundMe is for: corporate backers, personal friends and family, nonprofit backers who just believe in this dream and don't necessarily want to book a mermaid photoshoot
The funds will be used for:
- Travel: My trip to PA and back to pick it up
- Customizing: Time and money needed to re-paint, customize, and insure the tank
- Safety: Time and money needed to develop a safety briefing for users
- Booking photoshoots: Setting up a booking website for mers to book their photoshoots
- Scheduling photoshoots: Scheduling photoshoot sessions with times and places for summer 2024
- Labor: The crucial cost of paying myself for the time I've invested in my project
In 2024 my goal is to: Make back the $ I spent on investing in this tank
In 2025 my goal is to: Roll out my Midwestern Traveling "Edutainment" Show, thanks to this tank and all of you believing in me.
We're doing this with blood, sweat, tears and photoshoots. And it's the scariest thing I've ever done.
But - I know the future is bright for K12 kids who might not have access to environmental education otherwise. Let's bring it to them in the shape of a plucky little tank on a 14' trailer.
