MERETHON for HOUSTON RELIEF
I will be running my 16th marathon in Berlin on September 24. My journey with running began in my hometown of Houston when I was in middle school. I would run the Houston Half Marathon every year and my favorite place to train was Buffalo Bayou Park- a place that was completely flooded during Hurricane Harvey. I am commemorating my 'sweet sixteen' by raising funds for the Greater Houston Community Foundation's Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, a fund set up by Mayor Turner. My goal is $2,620 ($100 per mile!). While a marathon is undoubtedly a personal challenge, I know my hometown is mustering much more endurance to rebuild in the weeks-and years-to come. I'm proud to be #HoustonStrong and as a poster I saw at a past marathon once read, "tough times don't last, tough people do." Any little amount counts- Thanks, Y'ALL!
